Castevet

Chances are you've already heard about Castevet. For those who haven't, Castevet are an emo band out of Chicago that you need to listen to immediately. I won't waste any more of your time, just download and listen to these two releases...or listen to the preview and see if you're even into it.

Hobis

Hobis was a request. Hobis was a band from Maryland that shared members with Dawn Treader and The Summer We Went West. That should be more than enough to get you into it.

Livingston Seagull

This was a request. Johnathan Livingston Seagull was a sweet story about a seagull outcasted from his own flock. Livingston Seagull is a pop punk band from Seattle, Washington. The player we use isn't working at the moment so listen to them on myspace if you want a preview.

Southern Girls

I heard about these guys on the Topshelf Records forum and I'm glad I did. Southern Girls are a 4-piece band out of New York. They play a screamo hardcore type of stuff that's really catchy and really good. It's also got some pretty mathy sounding riffs in there too. Enjoy.

Serena Joy

Mozilla is acting pretty nuts right now so I don't even know if this will post. Sorry I haven't been blogging this week much, I was out of town. I'm back though, if you don't know Serena Joy:

"From out of the mists of Cardiff, Weymouth and London come Serena Joy, an ambient mix of lo-fi indie, post rock and melodramatic sky torching screamo. Featuring members of andtheywillriot! and Missiles Of Uncertain Destinations."

That's what last.fm says, and I couldn't have said it better myself. They're on a hiatus right now but they play some really cool screamo stuff so check it out.

Big Kids

This was requested and thank god it was. You're about to get the hell informed out of you. Big Kids are a three-piece band out of Oakland California who are made up of two Spires players, Jason and Brum, and one longtime friend of the band Al Paca who toured with Spires this last summer. The band started in October and consisted of only Al Paca and Jason but around early January the duo asked Brum to tag along to play some punk/hardcore tunes. Big Kids formed in order to make music and be able to visit old and new pals all over the country (tip for all bands). Anyways, in January they recorded songs with Jack from Comadre at the Atomic Garden Studios, and the results are bananas. Those songs will be released as a full length on tape and cd by Mountain Man records and Pissart Records late March. They'll be touring the west coast in March with
Edhochuli from Pennsylvania and hope to be touring the east coast by summer but I just hope they come to Arizona (Tucson in particular). Also in very very very up to the minute news, Big Kids are going to tour the U.S. in July with 1994!

I absolutely love this release, I can't stop listening to it. I also love albums where I have absolutely no idea what song to give as a sample because they're all so good. I had the opportunity to talk to them and they're all for putting out music so everyone can hear it and everyone can enjoy it, they're really cool guys. These guys are going to be big.

Anyways, without further adieu, here's three of their songs from their upcoming release, which is going to kill.

P.S. Eliot

I'm going away for a couple of weeks so I decided I should post something before I left since Ross kept bugging me to do so for a few weeks now. P.S. Eliot are a four piece from Birmingham, Alabama and they play pop punk ...or lo-fi rock..or whatever last.fm tags say they are. Genre doesn't really matter anyways, does it?
