Damien Jurado - Caught In The Trees

"Damien Jurado is a in the tradition of Seattle, Washington. His music is regarded as being heavily influenced by music. Over the years he has released albums on many labels; today his primary label is Secretly Canadian. He was once in the hardcore band Coolidge with Seattle’s David Bazan, who formerly fronted the bands Pedro the Lion and HEADPHONES and now performs as a solo artist."

Talk about a cool guy, this album really has no bad songs on it, one I'm able to listen through the whole thing and not skip one. Really talented guy on terms of singing and songwriting, I don't know what else he's good at, probably a lot!

Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson - S/T

"Until recently twenty-five year-old Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson has been one of Brooklyn’s best-kept secrets, but with the release of his debut album and the help of some of his better known friends (and neighbors) that seems likely to change."

I've been listening to this lately for the last week or two and it's quickly becoming a favorite of mine. I've heard that he's known not to show for shows on account of him being an alcoholic though so don't count on seeing him very often.

Just because they're so good

And

Damn it I love Fleet Foxes.

Right Away, Great Captain! - The Bitter End

"Right Away, Great Captain! recorded ‘The Bitter End’ over a span of 3 days in a 100 year old log cabin near Bastian, VA in August of 2006. It is a concept record concerning a 1600’s sailor at sea for 3 years. Each song is a journal entry to either his family at home, or his captain. The record consists of 15 songs, and clocks in at 50 minutes long."

I can't get over these guys, it sounds like what the baby of Sufjan Stevens and Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin would sound like. Pretty undiscovered though really really really good.

I really don't want to do my homework right now.

Bowerbirds - Hymns For A Dark Horse

It's been a while, hello blog, I almost forgot about you.

"Bowerbirds are Beth Tacular, Phil Moore and Mark Paulson from North Carolina. They make leafy - with guitars, accordions and violins. They self-released their debut EP Danger At Sea in August 2006 and were signed to Burly Time Records later that year."

This is just one of those albums where you hear it, and regret not having it for the past couple years (it came out in 2007). An album I can actually listen through the whole thing and at the end not be able to name one bad song.

They've been compared to the musical styles of The Dodos or Horse Feathers.

HEAR FOR YOURSELF!

O Lucky Man! - When I was young I would type your name just to see it in front of me

O Lucky Man! is a duo from California. They remind me of a Tim Kinsella project.
