So typically I'm not the kind of guy that likes to plug his own music, in fact I've sort of fought myself doing it with Gio's and my project and seeing how his and my project isn't complete yet I figured I'd post some stuff I have completed and am pretty stoked about. Jasper Lewis in the Swimming Hole is a project I made heavily influenced by artists out such as Wild Nothing, Twin Shadow, The Smiths, The Cure and many others. Although this is kind of out of the norm for this blog I figured I'd self promote to some extent. These are the two tracks I've made for this project called Hello Heartbreak and Summer Vs. Winter. Anyways, I hope you guys enjoy it and don't think this is all I'm going to blog about today.

I wanted to up this as soon as i got the record but sadly, I don't have a usb record player. They play punk/post-punk. They play the two very well. Immaculada is a pretty even split. One side is punk/hardcore, one is post-punk, both are great. I got all of these from icoulddietomorrow which is a great blog so check that out if you already haven't. Their third LP has already been recorded and is due out sometime later this year. Be sure to buy this! They only made 300 copies.

Cameron Wisch is the drummer of Zona Mexicana and has been in Ra Ra Riot, The Medics and Le Rug. This is just killer. When I saw Zona Mexicana live I knew this guy was something else by watching him play. Tons of energy and creativity. This is his solo effort. From last.fm: "He’s by far the most energetic and creative drummer I’ve ever seen, a fantastic pianist and vibraphonist, and a better guitarist than most I’ve known, although self-taught. The guy cannot be stopped." I'm including an extra song from the Cake Life Collective Vol.2 Compilation titled New Egypt, New Jersey. Don't pass up on this.

I'm so inactive because school's getting rough right near the end, I hope you guys understand, I'm really sorry, I mean really really sorry. Just kidding, I'm not except to you laydeez out there, WASSUP!? Anyways this is Caravels, they asked us to blog about them, which means that ohnoimlateforschool is getting Oh So PoPuLaRrRrR. In reality I meant to blog about them a while ago because they're sweet as hell, and better yet they're coming to Tucson Arizona, which I'm not going to miss because I live in Tucson Arizona (REPRESENT!). Side note - bands that come to Tucson are the best types of bands. Where are my manners? Caravels are a 5-piece post-hardcore band from Nevada, Las Vegas. They are definitely another one of the refreshing bands you can listen the hell out of and still not be sick of their stuff. Their new song on their myspace shows they're moving in a great direction too. A little extra information about this band could consist of that this picture has a nice random pair of legs in it, that's because Caravels played their set to that guy and the top part of his body exploded, and then they were all like, "hey what's going on here?" and then they spray painted "Welcome 2 Hell" on that car that they found because they're really METAL! Anyways, I'm getting boring and am going to let you hear this stuff because I've been secretly holding it for myself because I'm selfish and I feel bad.

Well I'm allowed to post this now since the album was released. You're about to get the hell informed out of you again. Big Kids are a three-piece band out of Oakland California who are made up of two Spires players, Jason and Brum, and one longtime friend of the band Al Paca who toured with Spires this last summer. The band started in October and consisted of only Al Paca and Jason but around early January the duo asked Brum to tag along to play some punk/hardcore tunes. Big Kids formed in order to make music and be able to visit old and new pals all over the country (tip for all bands). Anyways, in January they recorded songs with Jack from Comadre at the Atomic Garden Studios, and the results are bananas. Those songs will be released as a full length on tape and cd by Mountain Man records and Pissart Records late March. They'll be touring the west coast in March with Edhochuli from Pennsylvania and hope to be touring the east coast by summer but I just hope they come to Arizona (Tucson in particular). Also in very very very up to the minute news, Big Kids are going to tour the U.S. in July with 1994!

I absolutely love this release, I can't stop listening to it. I also love albums where I have absolutely no idea what song to give as a sample because they're all so good. I had the opportunity to talk to them and they're all for putting out music so everyone can hear it and everyone can enjoy it, they're really cool guys. These guys are going to be big.

Sorry I haven't been posting much guys. I've been busy with some shit. Gospel was one of my favorite bands when i was younger. "Gospel was comprised of Adam Dooling, Sean Miller, Vincent Roseboom and Jon Pastir. Their sound mixes the atmosphere of psychedelia, structural sensibilities and instrumentation of Genesis-esque progressive rock, and primal aggression/desperation of hardcore/screamo."- Last.fm

I first heard of Beach Fossils when i went to see Wavves play with Zach Hill about two months ago. I think it started off as the solo jams of Dustin Payseur and now they are a full band. I'm posting yet another 3 song post since Beach Fossils doesn't officially have anything out. They are releasing a demo and an LP sometime soon though. Demo is going to be out on Captured Tracks and the LP is going to be on Woodsist. Maybe i have that mixed up. Whatever they have some really catchy riffs and some great lo-fi vocals. Brilliant. There really is no other way to describe this band. They kind of came out of nowhere but it's really good. I never had looked for it but had the sudden urge to listen to Pretend so I found it. Some of their songs length out to be around 12 minutes or so but it's not one of the annoying 12 minute songs it's the songs where you're like, "wow, that was a long song but I'll let it slide because it was good." It's cool. Enjoy.
